Meeting Professor Yemi Osinbajo By Gimba Kakanda

For a citizen who had been dazzled by the unusual campaigning strategies of APC’s Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, an invitation to see him in flesh, and to hear him explain the ambitious policies collated in his party’s widely circulated manifesto, which took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, on January 26, was the highpoint of my week. The meeting was organised, in the words of the organisers, as “an interactive session between Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the youth, opinion leaders, and active civil society leaders from Abuja and other northern states” and it was indeed an engaging session, moderated by Mr Chris Ngwodo, one of the most outstanding and cerebral young intellectuals in Nigeria today.    Having listened to our guest, and also to his responses to questions ranging from how they intend to sustain their welfare system, down through how they intend to carry out civil service reforms, because right-sizing has always been a dreaded approach among Nige

APC Campaign Issues Alerts On Grand Plan By Presidency And PDP To Scuttle 2015 Elections

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has issued an alert about a dastardly plot by the PDP and the President Jonathan-led government to scuttle the 2015 general elections. A statement by APCPCO on Thursday disclosed that the campaign has it on good authority that the kernel of the plan is to use the subterfuge of the frivolous litigation by some people to get a court pronouncement (from one of the Presidency’s pliable judges) to the effect that General Muhammadu Buhari – the APC presidential candidate – lied under oath in saying that the military had his certificate, whereas, the military had denied being in possession of it. According to a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, the counter arguments by the APC’s candidate’s counsel would not matter because the particular Federal High Judge has been prepared to do the dirty hatchet job. The APC expressed the fear that such a wicked pronoun

PDP Loses Niger East Senatorial By-election To APC As Tribunal Nullifies Election Results

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Minna on Friday upturned the result of the Niger East Senatorial by-election conducted on August 30, 2014. The by-election was concluded on the 6th of September, 2014 in favor of Barrister David Umaru of All Progressives Congress (APC). The Chairman of the 3-man tribunal, Justice Ibrahim Bako gave the verdict in a judgement that lasted for hours. Justice Bako saw the APC candidate returning with 79,779 votes as against Dr. Shem Zagbayi Nuhu of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 68,525 votes. Umaru of APC had petitioned the tribunal challenging the declaration of Nuhu of PDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the by-election. This brings the number of APC Senators in the state to two – Niger East and Niger North Senatorial districts while PDP hold on to its control of Niger South Senatorial district.

Presence of Ghost and Einstein's Theory on Conservation of Energy

Here’s something that I have been thinking for long! I am not too sure if I believe in ghost. But I believe in energy and if I believe that energy cannot be created, nor destroyed; it can only be transformed, then I think I should believe in something that exist after my death, as my energy would be transformed into… There are many organizations and groups carrying amateur research on ghosts. They believe in the presence of Ghost, in act. But for people like you and me – I mean people those who are a bit more inclined towards the modern science – the evidence for the presence of ghosts is a bit confusing. Despite years of experimentation by ghosts hunters, we do not have any solid proof of the presence of ghostly energy yet still. Most scientifically inclined believers of ghosts believe that the proof of the existence of ghosts has been well supported by Einstein’s theory in Modern physics! Many ghost hunters believe that Albert Einstein – one of the great scientists of all time had l

The antiquities minister Mohammed Ibrahim Ali  said on Sunday, January 15, 2012 that the discovery was made in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. This finding is considered as one of the rarest discoveries of its kind, and according to the antiquities minister Ibrahim Ali, this finding has been made accidentally by a team of expert archeologists from Switzerland's Basel University in Karnak, situated near Luxor in Upper Egypt. This team was led by a couple of experts, Elena Pauline-Grothe and Susanne Bickel. New Moon (S/2004 N1) Discovered Orbiting Neptune

Image
NASA researchers have spotted a tiny new moon - named S/2004 N1, revolving Neptune. This moon is the smallest one to orbit Neptune and is not more than about 12 miles across according to the observations by NASA. According to NASA the newly discovered star is approximately 100 million times fainter than the dimmest star that can be seen with the naked eye.     This discovery was almost an accident. Astronomers discovered the moon by spotting out a white dot that was found in more than 150 photos taken by Hubble Space telescope between the years 2004 and 2009. The presence of the moon was not officially confirmed until on July 1, 2013 Mark Showalter of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California, found the moon in the course of his study with the faint arcs around Neptune. Mark said, "the moons and arcs orbit very quickly, so we had to devise a way to follow their motion in order to bring out the details of the system." He added, "it's the same reason a spo

How Abacha Died 17 Years Ago As Narrated By Al Mustapha

Image
Major Hamza Al Mustapha was the Chief Security Officer of Gen. Sani Abacha, former Nigeria military head of state from November 1993 to his death in June 1998.  Quote "When I got to the bedside of the Head of State, he was already gasping. Ordinarily, I could not just touch him. It was not allowed in our job. But under the situation on ground, I knelt close to him and shouted, “General Sani Abacha, Sir, please grant me permission to touch and carry you.” Contrary to insinuations, speculations and sad rumours initiated by some sections of the society, I maintain that the sudden collapse of the health system of the late Head of State started previous day (Sunday, 7th June, 1998) right from the Abuja International Airport immediately after one of the white security operatives or personnel who accompanied President Yasser Arafat of Palestine shook hands with him (General Abacha) I had noticed the change in the countenance of the late Commander-in-Chief and informed the Aide

She's a graduate of English from Lagos State University and has been acting since 2008. She started acting pretty early. Her friends and fans call her the Blackgold but what is most unique about her is her openness. Adediwura is so frank there isn't a subject that has the 'Stop' sign to her. She spoke to Showtime Celebrity on her career, beliefs, love, sex and more. Is it true that you need to produce your own movie in order to be known in the Yoruba movie industry? When you produce your own movie, it gives you the opportunity to sell and promote yourself. The number of people coming into Nollywood right now makes it tough. One has to keep pushing oneself and think of something new that can be done. Why are you called Blackgold? That question is funny to me; you know why? In the movie industry,
