WHO Removes Nigeria From List Of Polio Endemic Countries???

Image
The World Health Organization(WHO) announced at the weekend that polio is no longer endemic in Nigeria. This is the first time that Nigeria has interrupted transmission of wild poliovirus, bringing the country and the African region closer than ever to being certified polio-free. With this development, Nigeria, which in 2012, accounted for more than half of all polio cases worldwide, has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against polio.   The country last  reported a case of wild poliovirus in July 24, 2014, and a full 12 months have passed without a fresh case of the paralysing disease. Only two countries – Pakistan and Afghanistan are still on the polio-endemic list and WHO has assured it will support their efforts to join list of nations that had been declared free of the disease.

Jim Iyke Shares Emotional Experience About Being A Father And Photos Of His Baby Boy

Image
Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke who welcomed a baby boy with his Lithuanian girlfriend some weeks ago has taken out time to relieve the moment and share his experience about being a new father. He also shared photos of his cute son Read the touching message below: Son, A few weeks ago I recall kissing your mom’s sweaty brows as I encouraged Her to push and push harder intermittently. I recall her growing weaker by the minute, her fingers clutching my shoulders in a death grip , her intense green eyes staring deep into my core with that singular resolve only women in labor possess. I asked Doc Crawford for the honour of pulling you out of your mom which she granted without wasting a heartbeat and also gave me the charge of cutting the umbilical cord. You see against every ethos of her practice she sensed a higher purpose beyond this realm; a symbolic need for me to perform this final task to weld you and I, father and son, into one single entity.

A family member has said contrary to the claim by the police authorities, ransom was paid before former minister of finance and chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Falae was eventually released. The family source also berated the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase of claiming the glory for Falae’s release saying the police boss just came to Ondo for jamboree “because Police did not have any input in Baba’s release.” The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was kidnapped in his farm at Ilado in Akure North Local Government Area by suspected Fulani herdsmen. He regained his freedom after spending four days in the kidnappers’ den. “I wonder why people don’t investigate well before talking. It will be very unfair to give any kudos to the police over Chief Falae’s release having being held hostage for four day “If we relied on Police to rescue B
