Top 10 Unexplained Mysteries of The World... Explained

Image
Here are my top 10 unexplained mysteries of the world. Or at least, so some people claim. I'd like to offer some rational explanations for these so-called mysteries, including the direct evidence that debunks them. Unexplained Mystery #1: Bigfoot (aka Sasquatch) He's big, he's hairy, and he's starred in his own TV show. Bigfoot is world-famous for spooking the bejesus out of hikers and hunters in North America. Scientists consider Sasquatch to be the result of folklore, misidentification and a whole lot of hoaxes. However, many people still believe these humanoid creatures exist around the world, just like the Yeti of the Himalayas. One of the most famous unexplained mysteries in the world today, Bigfoot has been described as an ape-like creature, some 6-10 feet tall, weighing more than 500 pounds, and covered in dark brown or reddish hair. Witnesses give him large eyes, a heavy brow ridge and a crested head, much like a male

10 China’s Dwarf Village Villages in general are not strange. Villages in China are also not strange. There are many remote ones in this country, but one stands out from the others. Scientists and experts are extremely interested in the inhabitants of Yangsi, situated in the Sichuan Province. The reason? Not only are there only 80 residents in the village, but almost half of them are dwarfs. Rumor has it, according to those who live in Yangsi, that a mysterious disease befell the little village more than 60 years ago. Young children between the ages of five and seven were most affected, and the disease caused them to simply stop growing. Experts now know that stunted growth is only likely to appear in 1 in 20,000 people, so what happened in Yangsi is something very much out of the ordinary. Especially considering that historic sightings of the dwarfs claim that several hundred of them were residing in the Sichuan region at one point . As if the mystery affliction wa

NePal EartQuake

The earthquake that killed more than 5,000 people has set the stage for a potential cholera crisis in Nepal — the same country that unwittingly exported the devastating disease to Haiti after its quake five years ago. Cholera, a deadly bacterial infection that causes rapid loss of bodily fluid, is endemic to Nepal, where there have been at least two outbreaks in recent years. And last week's quake created conditions under which cholera and other water-borne diseases thrive: compromised water supply, lack of sanitation, and survivors crowded into tent camps, health officials say. Watch: Man pulled alive from rubble in Nepal "When you have people on the move, when you have people away from home, or they live in a shelter, there is a disruption in the water and sanitation system and that increases the risk of cholera," said Tarik Jasarevic, a spokesman for the World Health Organization. That was the situa

(world News) Australia recalls ambassador after Indonesia executes prisoners

Image
(CNN) Australia has recalled its ambassador to Indonesia for consultations after two Australians were among eight drug smugglers executed by firing squad early Wednesday. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott called the executions "cruel and unnecessary" because both men, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, had been "fully rehabilitated" during a decade in prison. Abbott didn't say what permanent actions, if any, would be taken against Indonesia. "This is a dark moment in the relationship, but I'm sure the relationship will be restored," he said. One of the men's Indonesian lawyers, Todung Mulya Lubis tweeted his apologies. "I failed. I lost," he said. "I'm sorry." Indonesian President Joko Widodo appeared to shrug off the diplomatic recall, telling reporters that "our legal sovereignty must be respected. We also respect other countries' legal sovere

The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, has confirmed that the troops of the Nigerian Army rescued 200 girls and 93 women during a raid on Sambisa Forest on Tuesday. When the news of the rescue was broken on the tweeter handle of the military on Tuesday, many Nigerians had gone online to speculate that the freed ladies included the Chibok schoolgirls. However, Olukolade did not confirm whether or not the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014 were among the rescued ladies. The Defence spokesman told punch correspondent on the telephone that the tweets were the true position of the army on its operations in Sambisa Forest. The tweets read, “Troops this (Tuesday) afternoon rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa. We cannot confirm if the Chibok girls are in the group. “The troops captured and destroyed three terrorist camps, including the notorious Tokumbere Camp in the Sambisa Forest operation. “Sambisa Forest: T

(Breaking) FG to pay oil marketers N156bn on Thursday

The Federal Government on Wednesday expressed concern over the fuel scarcity being witnessed in some parts of the country, stating that oil marketers would on Thursday receive the sum of N156bn as payment for fuel subsidy. The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, stated this while speaking during an interview with journalists shortly after declaring open the 20th conference of Directors General of Customs of the World Customs Organisation. The minister while sympathising with Nigerians whose lives are being disrupted by queues, said the government is working hard to end the scarcity within the shortest time possible. She said despite the revenue challenges facing the government, the issue of fuel subsidy payments to oil marketers had always been prioritised by the Federal Government. For instance, she said the government had in December 2014 paid the sum of N350bn to oil marketers, noting that an additional N31bn in foreign exchange differentials had already

Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Minister of National Planning, Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman, disclosed this at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting. Sulaiman, who is the chairman of the Technical Subcommittee of the outgoing government’s transition committee, said the council warned the incoming government against running a parallel government. I never apologised to Bode George – Tinubu

Image
The All Progressives Congress, national leader  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has denied apologising to the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Chief Bode George. George had said during an interview with the Sunday PUNCH that Tinubu was responsible for his imprisonment but had apologised to him at the burial of the Deputy President General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last year. However, Tinubu in a statement by his media adviser, Mr. Sunday Dare, said he never apologised to George since he had nothing to do with George’s incarceration. He said although they both met at Arisekola-Alao’s burial, their conversation had nothing to do with an apology. He said, “Mr. George claims the alleged apology was made at the burial of Chief Alao-Arisekola. On that date, personalities such as Oba Otudeko and Governor Ajimobi appro

Cult groups clash, kill Assembly deputy clerk

The Deputy Clerk of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Geoffrey Nemine, has been shot dead. He was killed during a violent clash between youths suspected to be members of rival cult groups in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The incident took place on Sunday in the Agudama area of the Yenagoa metropolis. It was learnt that detectives had yet to establish the cult groups that were involved in the clash which claimed the life of the Assembly worker. However, eyewitnesses have given three different accounts as to how Nemine was killed. The first account, our correspondent learnt, was that the deceased was standing near his house with a bag containing money when the hoodlums shot him. The hoodlums were said to have fled the area when they noticed the man had died, but did not take the bag. The second account by some eyewitnesses suggested that the hoodlums had gone to the deceased wife’s supermarket to steal the money made for the day. They said the deceased w

Ex-gov Tapgun admits says I worked for APC’s victory,

A former Governor of Plateau State,  Amb. Fidelis Tapgun, has said though, he is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, he worked for the success of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general elections. Tapgun said his decision to work for the opposition party in the recent elections was as a result of the injustice meted to party members and the impunity of state governors, who imposed their surrogates as candidates for elections at various levels. The former governor, who spoke to newsmen at his Jos country home on Tuesday, said the PDP worked against itself in the election, adding that the victory of APC at the federal and in the state was not a surprise because the PDP members saw it coming. Tapgun explained that he and some of the governorship aspirants in the state warned President Goodluck Jonathan about the impending fall of the party, a warning he said was ignored. He accused Jonathan of allo

loyalist of Fayose lay siege to Ekiti Assembly

Image
There was panic again in Ado Ekiti on Monday as members of the Peoples Democratic Party and supporters of Governor Ayodele Fayose laid siege   to the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex in order to halt the resumption of the 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers. Fayose had announced in a statewide broadcast on Sunday that the   lawmakers planned to take over the assembly to commence their impeachment proceedings against him. He therefore urged transport unions, market women and workers to rise up and protect the mandate they gave him. Although there were no barricades at entry points to Ado Ekiti city as done in the previous protests, many   workers who arrived in their offices at 8am returned to their homes out of fear. Private and public schools in the state capital failed to reopen for the third term academic session as a result of the development. The governor’s supporters and the state PDP member

Okupe insists Buhari has no certificate

Image
The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has said that he stands by his words that the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is not an electable leader. Many critics of the All Progressives Congress candidate, including the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who, in the buildup to the March 28 presidential election, condemned Buhari, had subsequently apologised after he won the election. But Okupe, on Monday said he would stand by his words that Buhari, who he said had no West African Senior School Certificate, was not eligible to contest for President. He stated on his official Facebook page, “These are very interesting times in our nation. An election has come and gone. A victor has emerged and the loser has conceded. “Yet some of our folks are behaving as if we have just gone through a war between two hostile nations. The APC agents all over the place are unrelenting in their ti
