The suit instituted by a national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu challenging an alleged defamatory documentary against him by the African Independent Television (AIT) has taken a new twist as the chairman of DAAR Communication Plc, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi has indicated his intention to testify in the matter. Other witnesses listed to testify in defence of the libellous documentary are Namure Joy Edoimioya, Chief Medan Tenke, Ajibola Adewusi, Olumide Idowu, Chief Stanley Odidi, Engr. Nwabueze and Dr. Stanley Bassey. Tinubu had instituted the N150 billion suit against AIT before an Ikeja High Court for peddling false accusations about his personality in the documentary titled “Lion of Bourdilion” According to him, the documentary was politically sponsored to tarnish his reputation in the eyes of the populace. Court orders NDLEA out of Kashamu’s home

Kashamu had been under house arrest since Saturday morning when anti-narcotic agents secured his property. Malham Ibrahim Bubba the chief justice of a Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, out of the home of fugitive senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu.  The NDLEA had said Mr. Kashamu was detained to ensure he appears in court to face extradition proceedings on Monday. The lawmaker-elect is wanted by United States authorities for alleged drug related offences. Despite the house arrest, the NDLEA failed to take Mr. Kashamu to court on Monday. The matter has subsequently been adjourned till‎ 4th of june‎.

Buruji Kashamu Threatens to commit sucide

Buruji Kashamu, Ogun East senator-elect, has threatened to commit suicide if men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) try to forcefully take him from his Lekki, Lagos residence. Buhari rejects Rolls Royce in London

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, currently on a private visit to England, on Friday turned down the use of a Rolls Royce made available for him by the Nigerian High Commission in London. Buhari shocked officials of the High Commission when, on landing at the Heathrow Airport, he declined to make use of  the  Rolls Royce and other facilities offered him. Premium wikis gathered that after exchanging pleasantries with the embassy officials led by the High Commissioner, Dr Dalhatu Tafida, the president-elect politely told them that his visit was strictly private and he had made arrangement for all his needs while in the UK. Indian Nurse Who Spent 42 Years in Coma Following Brutal Rape Has Died

The 68-year-old had been a pivotal figure for the South Asian nation's debate over euthanasia Aruna Ramchandra Shanbaug, a former nurse who spent over four decades in a vegetative state after being raped at a Mumbai hospital in 1973, died Monday morning after a heart attack following a bout of pneumonia. She was 68. “She was recovering and all her other medical parameters were fine. Today she suffered a sudden attack and could not be saved,” Dr. Ahmad Pazare, head of medicine at Mumbai’s King Edward Memorial hospital (KEM), told the Indian Express . Shanbaug began working as a junior nurse at KEM in the early 1970s, after moving to the city from the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Burundi President Makes First Appearance Since Failed Coup

                              (BUJUMBURA, Burundi) — Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza has made his first appearance in the capital since the attempted coup against his government last week. Nkurunziza made a brief statement to journalists in the foyer of his heavily guarded presidential offices in Bujumbura Sunday morning. He did not mention the failed coup plot against him or the protests that have rocked Burundi for weeks over his bid for a third term in office. Instead he described how he contacted the presidents of nearby African countries to discuss the threat from Somalia’s Islamic extremists, al-Shabab. Jonathan holds private meetings with Adeboye, Oyedepo

                                    President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met separately with two leading pastors in the country based in Ogun State. Jonathan met with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; and the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo. The headquarters of Winners Chapel is located in Ota, Ogun State while the Redemption Camp of the RCCG is situated at Mowe along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The President arrived the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos in the afternoon and was conveyed to the venues of the separate meetings in a helicopter. The two meetings were said to have been described as “private” and hence were not opened to journalists. 100 killed in Plateau, Taraba

                                   No fewer than 100 people, including a pastor and three soldiers, were killed at the weekend and Monday in Plateau and Taraba states. Seventy of the deaths were recorded in Karim Lamido and Takum local government areas of Taraba State and 30 in two villages at the Barkin Ladi LGA   of Plateau State. It was learnt that suspected Fulani herdsmen   invaded Vat and Zakupang , killing Pastor Luka Gwom of the Church of Christ in Nation and 29 others in the early hours of Monday. Spokesman for the Special Task Force,   Ikedichi Iweha, told our correspondent in Jos   that the herdsmen took the action following the theft of about 400 of their cows.   More than 300   of the stolen cows, according to him, were later found and returned to their owners.
