Explosion kills 12 in Maiduguri marketq




No fewer than 12 persons were killed in a fresh suicide attack on Monday Market in Maiduguri, a member of the youth vigilance group, who craved anonymity, told our correspondent on the telephone.
The source said 12 persons were also injured in the Tuesday’s blast and had been taken to a hospital in the Borno State capital for treatment.
He said, “The explosion was from a planted bomb at the crowded market.”
The source said the incident happened at about 4.30pm, causing pandemonium in the market.
Monday Market has witnessed about five explosions since the turn of 2015.
Aside the latest attack, the same market was attacked on Saturday alongside another market and a motor park.
Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Clement Adoda, confirmed the attack but did not give the casualty figure.
